Last year Pretoria High School for Girls (PHSG) signed up and became members of the South African Quality Institute. Well their quest for quality has paid off when they were recently declared the National winners of the Formula 1 in schools competition. This was the culmination of two years hard work in designing, using a Computer Aided Design (CAD) software programme, and manufacturing to high quality standards a replica formula 1 racing car. They then had to compete against many other South African schools, mainly made up of boys, in order to take the South African crown. They are now heading for Singapore to compete against 31 other countries from around the globe in the F1 for schools world championship finals.

Learners from Pretoria High School for Girls show off their model F1 racing car that they will use to compete against 31 other countries at the World F1 school championships in Singapore in September. Looking on is the Head of Technology subject Lynelle van Heerden.
